Quick news

So, real quick. There are rumours about a Nexus 5 based on the same specs as the HTC's 5 Incher. The LG VU II leaked and it will apparently have a quad-core S4 and 2gb of RAM over the actual VU. The are also leaks about the PadFone 2 based on quad-core S4, 2gb of RAM and a 720p screen. The LG Optimus G will launch soon in US. Also there are some new phones that will be available on the market soon, like the Note II and a 5.3incher from Pantech. The update to Jelly Bean arrived for the Samsung Galaxy S III. Also Samsung released a list of all devices that will be upgraded to Jelly Bean (it includes SII and Note). Also the 4G licenses for Romania have been sold and the companies will be expected to have the service up and running till next year.
That's all for now. See you next time. Bye!

Moto's and Intel's event

So today was Motorola and Intel event where they launched the Razr i which is pretty much an Intel powered Razr M. The phone is actually the first phone in the world that has a 2ghz CPU coming in the form of an Intel Medfield 32nm built core with a 32nm built GPU (no details so far about the GPU but other Intel SoC's are powered by a PowerVR SGX 540 -just like Galaxy Nexus and Motorola Razr ). Also the CPU is claimed to come with a more improved Java script engine, so we can say that is really built for internet browsing. All of that is powered by a 2000mah battery (40% more than IPhone 4S as Motorola claims) image The phone comes with all of the Intel's goodies (like camera launching in less than 1 second, and up to 10 shots at 8mpx in less than one second, a shutter-key - to make the experience more pleasable - and Intel Imaging Optimisations) and boost the same Kevlar design as Razr M and the same 4.3' SuperAMOLED screen with almost no bezel (which Moto claims has 40% more screen estate than IPhone 4S and 15% mpre than 5 - Moto really wanted to take on Apple the fight) Also with the 8mpx 1080p camera there is a front facing one of 0.3mpx variety. The phone, what Motorola calls the biggest UK launch since the Razr, will launch soon in Europe and and Brazil and will have an unlockable bootloader (where carries will allow) and with Android ICS or Jelly Bean (my thoughts - Jelly Bean - because Intell just finished porting it to their architectures recently, most likely in time for this phone). That's all for now from Moto's event! Don't forget that today LG revealed Optimus G in Korea officially and that tommorow LG and HTC will also have events on their own. Till then, bye!

Today's news

So I will do this real quick. First the rumours about the HTC 5incher are apparently true. Named DIX, it will have the 5 inch 1080p screed with a 440 ppi, a quad-core S4 Pro with Adreno 320 and 1.5GB of RAM. And also there won't be any expandable memory. image Second, we have rumours about an Oppo phone. Yes, the Chinese company that builds the slimest phone in the world (6.6mm) wants to build a 5 incher close to the HTC named above. Also with a 1080p screen and a quad-core S4 and, as the rumours suggest, 2GB of RAM and expandable storage the phone is expecred to hit Chinese markets soon. There are rumours about the next Padfone Asus phone. Named the PadFone 2, it will feature a quad-core S4 CPU and 2GB of RAM. Early benchmarks (read Antutu) put him around 13900 points so it should be fast enough. image Also there are rumours about a quad-core S4 HTC Windows Phone 8 with a simmilar design to the One X. The rumours are still pretty fresh about this one so keep a close eye on it. Also, the GooPhone is expected to hit the market soon. The IPhone 5 rip-off featuring a quad-core Tegra 3, 1GB of RAM, Android ICS skinned to look like iOS 6, expandable storage and a 1280x720 4 inches screen. It has also the same design as the IPhone 5 and it costs only 300$ so definatelly keep an eye on it. image That's it for now. So till next time, bye!

Quick news

So for todays news, there is reslly nothing big to speak about, apart from the fact that LG announced an event on 19 september where they will most likely launch the LG Optimus G (quad-core Krait, Adreno 320, 13mpx camera, 2GB of RAM) for the outer Korean Markets. Doubt as a life without boundaires the event is held in coopwration with Qualcomm.
I also want to remember you that on the same date, HTC will held an event and also sometimes soon Moto will have an event too. So LG, Moto and HTC, and before them Samsung, Amazon ( Kindle Fire 7 and 7 HD 16GB hit the market today) and Apple launch/ed new devices so apparently this is the greates time of the year to buy a new device. Also we might expect something from Google too so stay tuned...
Also apparently the IPhone 5 will ship with a free adapter after all. Thanks Apple. It would've been the most funniest thing for Apple fans to pay 30$ for Lightning to 30pin adapter for IPhone 5.
That's all! See you next time!

IPhone 5 event and other news

So yesterday was Apple event where the bitten fruit from Cupertino announced the IPhone 5. The IPhone 5 is...well...like any leak so far, and everything but revolutionary. It comes with a 4 inches 1136x640 pixels (not even 720p) screen with a ppi of 326 (the same like the 4 and 4S). Apple claims are the first to fit the sensor into the screen which makes the screen more responsive and bright (Sony wants to do something similar to their new line of Xperia devices). Also because the screen is now bigger, they were able to put an extra row of icons on the screen. An interesting thing is that because of the bigger screen the old apps that aren't yet compatible with the new size will run letter-boxed. The CPU inside is the new Apple A6 (about we don't know anything so *insert number of cores here*) and it comes with a gig of RAM. Apple claims a two times more processing and video power from the CPU/GPU combination over the 4S while the chip itself is smaller and less power hungry (it consumes the same amount of power as the old 4S which might mean that the chip is built around Samsung 32nm HKMG process). The usual storage combination for Apple is present with 16, 32 and 64 GB models. The connectivity will be covered by Wi-Fi, 3G and LTE aswell as GPS with GLONASS support. Apple claims that because of the new manufacturing proccess now the differences from unit to unit are more like microns instead of milimeters. Another funny detail is that the LTE modem is a separate unit rather than built in the CPU so more than sure there is no Krait inside even though people think it might be an ARM Cortex A15 dual-core inside. Also it will use nano-SIM instead of micro-SIM or a regular size SIM. The camera is almost the same unit as the 4S one, with the same 8mpx but Apple added a Panorama Mode that they call it revolutionary (Android had this since ICS) and the abillity to snap photos while recording videos (Galaxy Nexus could do that). Also there are 3 Mics inside for Noise Cancelling (one in the front, ome on the back and one on the bottom) for HD Voice and the Face-Time resolution was bumped to 720p and now is avaible trough 3G also not inly Wi-Fi. And there is no NFC inside. The device itself is made entierly from glass and aluminium. It's still unclear if the device will be a global device with LTE and 3G but if not, there will most likely be two or more models (with Ev-Do also, I guess). It also comes with a new conector (and if you want an adaptor for all your old accesories you need to pay around 30$ to Apple for it), a new set of headphones that are redesigned and iOS 6. Also along this new IPhone they launched a 4 inches IPod touch base of the CPU of the 4S and the screen of the 5 and a new redesigned IPod Nano that looks like Lumia 800 or like two old nanos stacked up on top of each other. *Update* The CPU is aaprently a Cortex A15, dual core, based on the 32nm Samsung Exybos 5 Dual and a Power VR SGX 543MP4 just like the one in the A5X. We still need confirmation on this one. Great, Samsung!... Thanks for putting your next-gen CPU in the IPhone. *Update 2* According to AnandTech the cores are actually custom made Apple Cores. Not A9, not A15 but somewere between them just like Krait. Even though early benchmarks show simmilar (even if not quite the same as some more powerfull One X and SIII) performances to the top dogs Android smartphones, the IPhone is run by still a dual-core 1ghz CPU. image Over to other news: A leak from Motorola emerged today. The design is the same as the Razr M and it could be the Intel Made, Razr M like device, that we heard about it might hit Europe. Also there are details that Intel could crank the CPU frequency of this device to a full mighty 2GHZ to be able to compete with the Quad-Core devices. The device should be based on the same qHD SuperAMOLED Advanced as the Razr M and it should have the same design. And an interesting detail is that Intel finalised the Jelly Bean port to ther Medfield Android platform so if you have a device based on Intel and Android expecr a Jelly Bean update soon. I want to remeber all that the Medfield is based on Intel ATOM x86 architecture with PowerVR GPUs. If this 2GHZ Razr M will hit the Europe like that we'll have to wait till the Intel and Motorola event that will come up soon. And by the way: the name for the device apparently is Motorola Intel M so it will most likely be like a Nexus from Motorola for Intel. image And speaking of Jelly Bean, there are rumours about an October time-windows for Galaxy S III update and a November time-windows for S II. Thanks, Samsung! Also apparently Galaxy S Advance and Mini/Ace 2 will skip ICS to be upgraded straight to Jelly Bean sometime in Q4. image That's all for today! See you next time!

Today's news

So today's news will be quick. First the Sony Tablet S (I believe that is the name) is actually the first product announced at IFA that hit the market so soon. The Tab is based on a Tegra 3 Quad-Core CPU and comes in quite a few configurations. People that actually got the chance to play with it said is a killer device for that amount of money, so if you are interested keep an eye on your favorite online store. image Second, apparently the HTC Windows Phone 8 line of devices will be simillar to the Android line. So after yesterday I introduced what seemed to be called HTC 8X, today the situation has changed a bit. While the are rumours that in fact the 8X is the 8S, one thing is for sure now: we are looking at three devices, the 8X, 8S and 8V simmilar to the One line. What will HTC do in the end? Nobody knows but the 19th september event is really close so the wait will come to an end. image image Third and last for now, the UK will get 4G LTE. A service called Everything Everywhere will be the company that will get to the Brits with LTE and Fiber Internet Connections. Apparently the company formed from Orange and T-Mobile fusioning somehow and will provide 4G LTE on 1800mhz band. Something interesting is that you don't need to give up to your Orange or T-Mobile contracts to use the service because both carriers will still provide 3G and a couple of extra servicies connectivity but EE will act as the only network with 4G LTE with it's own logo amd branding. The carrier will bring LTE devices to UK like the One XL (which they used to demonstrate 4G over One X's 3G), Huawei Ascend P1, Lumia 920 (which will be exclussive to them) and Galaxy S III LTE (that will come with 2GB of RAM and Jelly Bean, thanks Samsung in name of everybody that doesn't have LTE, Jelly Bean and 2GB of RAM on their international GT-i9300 Galaxy S III). Most likely other devices will be following soon. The service is expected to go online soon. image That's all for now! Don't forget about tommorow Apple's announcement were we expect to see the new IPhone 5, the new IPod touch and maybe the much rumoured IPad Mini. image See you next time!

Weekend and today's news

So for this weekend rumours and news, I want to talk about a few things: First, apparently some details emerged about the HTC One X + (codenamed Endeavour C2) that say that it will come with a 1.6GHZ Tegra 3 + CPU (the one that comes with LTE) and in single core mode it can hit 1.7GHZ, the same 4.7' SuperLCD 2 touchscreen unit as the One X, 8Mpx camera, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a new design that actually has its roots in the HTC One S rather than One X. It will include the same 1800mah battery and will be 9.3mm thick. It will run Jelly Bean and will have Sense 4.5 on top of it. Most likely the device will come this holiday. image Also there are rumours about some tablets. One tablet features a 7-inch screen with 1280X768-pixel display, Android Jelly Bean with HTC's Sense UI atop, a Snapdragon S4 processor, a 3-megapixel rear camera and 1-megapixel front camera. The other tablet is rumoured to sport a 10-inch screen powered by a Tegra 3 processor. This is the same tablet that had leaked online just a few days back. Other specifications aren't clear, except for the fact it will come with 1GB RAM and will sport an unusual design. image Another HTC Windows Phone 8 phone leaked this weekend and after the looks of it, it's a mid-range one. It comes with a SuperLCD 2 720p screen and a diagonal of about 4.3' and a 1.2GHZ dual-core CPU and 1GB of RAM aswell as 16GB of storage, NFC and a 8MPX camera with an F2.0, 29mm lens (they call them ultra wide angle) and 1080p Video Recording aswell as Beats audio. Originally called the HTC Accord apparently it will be called now HTC 8X. image image And also apparently the HTC 5 incher that was said to come to Verizon is legit. The screen size will be around 5 inches (5.01 inches more exactely) and if we believe the benchmarks it should have the 1080p screen and the S4 Pro with Adreno 320 GPU that was mentioned in the first place. While I still have a bit of doubts, I suggest to wait and see what mighty device this might be (sounds pretty sweet so far). image image Also fun enough, HTC launches new dual-sim based One S device (SC) to China. That might be their policy of fewer devices but I bet to disagree. After I just had a rant at them for their fake-policy they decide to do that. Nice HTC. You just dug your own grave. image And to finish the HTC news for today, analysts are skeptical about the company state. Apparently HTC is already in the fourth consecutive quarter of profit loss. Apparently the One series wasn't so succesufull in Europe. Even though HTC is pulling out new dual-sim devices based on One S in China and and soon it will come on international markets with One X + and 8X, analysts say that is too late for HTC to save themselvs. So apparently after Nokia and Blackberry, HTC seems to have problems too. Seems like we are closeing in to a Samsung market domination and I'm not necessary sure that is a good thing. image Let's get to Samsung. Leaks appeard of a dual-sim Galaxy Note 2 smartphone for China. While the leak is more than sure legit, we don't know if it will ever get out of China. The dual-sim model will have the same specs as the one sim model, that includes the quad-core CPU and 2gigs of RAM so I guess if you want a beefy dual-sim phone you should wait for this on. Funny thing though is that it apparently supports a microSIM and a Normal sized SIM cards instead of two microSIMs or two NormalSIMs. image Also the Jelly Bean update for SIII is coming along nicely. I tried today the latest leak and I have to say that I'm impressed. Is a major improvement over ICS and I can't wait to see the final result. I hate when people say that it is worse compared to HTC one just because they are biased so I ain't even gonna comment. Also there are still no rumours about Galaxy sII Jelly Bean update. While Galaxy Tab 2 7, Note I, Note II, Note 10,1 and S III are confirmed/recieved the update, there is no word about Galaxy S II. Also apparently the Note 2 will come to Verizon. It will have the same specs as the international one, so keep it close people. Announcement following soon. Let's get to Nokia now: image While they say that Lumia 920 has the greatest PureView image experience, that can't be said about video recording. Accoring to Damian Dinning the Nokia Camera guru the only difference between 920 and the 41mpx 808 in terms of video recording is that 808 records stereo sound while 920 records only mono sound. That is a bit dissapointing given the fact that Nokia announced 920 has 3 high-sensivity mics. Congrats Nokia! Also, while they faked some of the photos and the OIS clip, the Low Light performance of the 920 is actually indeed impressive. I don't understand while they faked it but the hardware is indeed capable of the low light performance Nokia claims. The OIS hasn't yet been tested since Nokia said it isn't ready yet. Are they hideing something? I guess we should wait and see. That's all for today folks! See you next time!

Amazon event and Apple announcement

So today there was an Amazon event were they launched a new Knidle Fire: the HD.
So the HD has a OMAP 4470 CPU (that Amazon claims to be faster than Tegra 3), 1GB of RAM, Wi-Fi with MIMO technology and a 8.9' 1920x1200 pixels and a ppi of 243 and all that for a whooping price of 300$. And there will also be a LTE version for around 500$ and that will come with 250mb of data traffic. First tablet has 16GB of storage and the the LTE has 32GB and there is no words about expandable storage. Both of them also come with goodies from Amazon, and will run an Amazon skinned version without Google services.
And also the old Kindle Fire recieved a spec bump with double the RAM and a 40% faster CPU (say OMAP 4470) and the price will be cut to 160$.
And there will also be a Kindle Fire 7' HD with OMAP 4470 that might be a different story from the spec bumped first gen and that might be with what Amazon wants to compete against the Kobo tablet launched the other day. The price of the HD is around 199$.
And they also launched a bunch of other readers that have a very nice 4 LED technology and fiber optics for better screen reading.
Not bad Amazon, not bad!
And also Apple announced that they will drop support for 3GS when they will launch the 5. They said that instead of 3GS there will be an affordable 8GB 4S introduced.
That's all for today folks! See you soon!

Moto's event

Motorola launched 3 phones today. What is interesting is each one of them has very small bezels. An almost edge to edge display for all.
Each one of them has a dual-core Snapdragon S4 CPU and 1GB of RAM.
The Razr HD and the Razr HD Maxx have a 720p scren. Razr HD has the same kevlar plating while MAXX has the same big 3300mah battery (RAZR HD has 2500mah)
The Razr M has a SuperAMOLED QHD screen and a 3mpx Front Faceing Camera.
All 3 have 8mpx camera and the usual set of features like WI-FI, GPS, NFC, LTE etc.
The interesting part is that at Motorola's event was present Eric Schimdt, CEO of Google, that basically said there are around 1.3 million Android Activations daily and almost 500 millions Android devices activated to date. Schimdt appearence wasn't surprising though since Google actually owns Moto. I guess when they saw Eric on stage everybody was thinking about a ne Nexus made by Moto to be announced.
Eric Schimdt was present because these 3 Moto devices are the first mobile phones to come with Chrome instead of the default WebKit browser. The first device ever to do that is Google's own Nexus 7.
All 3 come to Verizon in times for holdays with ICS. An update to JB is already in the works. Razr HD will come to EU aswell. There were no words about a global version of Razr Maxx HD though.

Today's news

And for today's news I want to talk about Nokia, Motorola, Apple and maybe Samsung and Sony. Nokia first then. As some of you might know, I used to own a Lumia 800. I absolutely loved it's shape and design but the software blew the amazing phone it was. If it had Android I would probably still have it. Today Nokia launched their (Lumia 800 and 900) sequels: the Lumia 820 and 920. First the 820 has a Snapdragon S4 dual-core CPU (same as 920), 8gigs of internal storage and micro-sd, 1gig of RAM, a 4.3' ClearBlack screen unit (assuming Super AMOLED WVGA) and an 8MPX sensor and of course Windows 8 but the design is nowere near the old 800. The 920 has the same CPU and RAM but comes with a fancy 4.5' Screen that Nokia calls Puremotion HD+ with a strange 1280x768 resolution. It appears to be a LCD unit. Also it has a Pureview branded 8.7mpx Image Sensor (different from 808 41mpx one - this actually kills the Pureview thing) that has Image Stabilisation and something called Floating Lens (allows more light to the sensor and better image stabilisation). From storage standpoint it has 32gb of storage and no micro-sd apparently. From a design standpoint: is gorgeous. This is the phone that follows the 800 and 900 from the design standpoint. Both phones have wirless charging and NFC. Even though they are appealing devices, they most likely won't save Nokia from going banckrupt. Now Motorola: They will anounce the Razr M and Razr HD soon. Both with 4g LTE. Both with S4 CPU. Both with 1GB of RAM. Both with Android. Both for Verizon. The M highlight is the 3MPX front facing cam while for HD is the 720p screen. More details to come. Also Moto will have a conference witb Intel where is expected a new Intel.powered Android smartphone. Now Apple: The IPhone 5 will launch on 12 september. Nuff said. The design is apparently the same design it has been leaked several times. Sony: They launched a new line of Xperia smartphones, all three with Android and S4. They have different designs and screen res (including 720p) and one of the has13mpx I believe. Samsung: A new SIII with 2GB of RAM for Germany, the Note 2 was launched and looks like the Note 1 combined with SIII. Also JB update for the international SIII is coming and from latest two leaks Samsung is testing more RAM to our devices. Last one has  833 mb of RAM. Will have to wait and see. And also there are rumourd about a new HTC Flyer 2 to feature Snapdragon S4 and to compete with Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire. And about Kindle Fire, there are new images about the sequel, Kindle Fire 2 and it looks ugly. There appeared some renders of a great slider Nokia device with MeeGO that never made it because of Nokia. Thank you Nokia! That looked like an amazing device. Also they talk about a mid range Lumia with WP8 with the same hardware as 610. My question: wouldn't be simplier to just update 610 to WP8, keep users happy, not spending money on a new device and not loosing users? Apparently not. Also the Lumias will come with a new encryption system that is based of unique keys planted in a chip so now custom ROMs and no hacks. And Samsung tries a new thing with the updates. They try to revive the interface to the latest version for every phone. The Note already recieved this update and it now has the Note 2 and SIII TouchWiz Nature UX Also there are rumours about an edge-to-edge Motorola smartphone for Q4 but...wait and see. Those are today's news. See you later image                 Left is 920, righr is 820. image                               Note 2 image                           New Xperias image                              Iphone 5 image              Razr M to the left HD to the right

Today's news

I didn't necesarely posted anything new simply because there isn't.
I could talk about the endless JB leaks for SIII and about the endless tricks that HTC is pulling out of the sleeve to beat Exynos is benchmarks but is boring really.
There is only one good piece of rumour, or maybe two so take them with a grain of salt.
There are words about a 3G Nexus 7 so if that was what you were waiting for, have a bit of patience...for like 8 weeks or so.
And there is talk about a HTC 5 incher with a 1080p and quad-core S4. I personally don't believe on that, but you can keep an eye on Verizon press releases.
That's all for now, see you next time.
Bye bye

Back

So, apparently, someone close to me said that it would be fun if I write things on my blog so here is the first one after a long time. So today I decided to talk about the possibility of a new nexus device in early Q4.
Now, I don't really believe in something like that. I mean think about it. Every Nexus device to date came with a new OS. Nexus One with Froyo, Nexus S with Gingerbread, Motorola Xoom (yep folks, Xoom is also designed by Google but doesn't wear the name Nexus because Honeycomb wasn't open source at launch) with Honeycomb, Galaxy Nexus with Ice Cream Sandwich and Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean. There was Nexus Q but that is a home media player, and doesn't qualify for this game. A new Nexus device would mean a new OS, most likely Key Lime Pie. Now Jelly Bean is about 3 months old. A November release would mean 5-6 months which is very soon compared to the 8-12 months Google used to wait untill a new OS. If a new Nexus would be launch now that would likely mean the Nexus would come with Jelly Bean which would mean that Google goes the way of other OEMs like Sammy and HTC with many devices using same OS. That's also one of the reasons why I don't  believe the rumours about 4-5 Nexus devices made by each big OEM because it would come against Google policy about Nexus devices. Google currently has Nexus S, Xoom, GalNex and Nexus 7 updated to Jelly Bean officialy and it actually sells GalNex, Nexus 7 and Nexus Q trough the Google Play store so they recognize as Jelly Bean devices all three of then so a new device with Jelly Bean would be a bad decision. So most likely, if a new Nexus would come so soon, it will be Q1 2013 or Q2 same year. That being said, I'd like to conclude by saying that even if a new Nexus would launch tommorow, you can't go wrong with any of the actual Nexuses. Even the oldest one, the Nexus S is a great deal and is a device that still gets updates from Google. Anyway, at least for me, the Galaxy Nexus is the greatest mobile phone right now (not necessarely hardware but on the software side) and the Nexus 7 the greatest tab for it's money.
That being said, I'm back and damn...is good to be back in the tech world.
